Established in 1808, the 546 square miles of Haywood County include four towns—Canton, Clyde, Maggie Valley and the county seat of Waynesville.
Surrounded by the the grandeur of the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains, Haywood County has 14 peaks more than 6,000 feet in elevation, such as Cold Mountain, which inspired the national bestseller and movie.
Rushing streams provide sparkling clear water for fishing, canoeing and other adventures. Miles of hiking and biking trails are nearby in the Blue Ridge Parkway or Smoky Mountain National Park.
