Community

High above the waters of Lake Junaluska, the community of Avalon boasts panoramic views of the mountains, lake and valley. The gated entrance leads to wide private roads, maintained year-round. Homesites range from one to four acres, with elevations that rise to 4,000 feet.

Hiking and walking trails wind through more than 400 acres of woodlands and alpine meadows, linking the community’s residential areas to the scenic overlooks and landscaped common spaces.

Just down the mountain, the brick sidewalks and small-town charms of Waynesville will tempt you to enjoy a different kind of stroll.  Main Street is lined with gourmet coffee shops, bakeries, art galleries, and restaurants that serve up everything from country cooking to international cuisine.  The city is also home to a growing arts community and award-winning local theater.

An easy half-hour’s drive will take you to the more cosmopolitan charms of Asheville, the region’s acknowledged cultural center for art, dining, music, entertainment and shopping.

Avalon is an environmentally sensitive community built in harmony with its natural surroundings. The community’s 400+ acres adjoin forest and pasture land that is permanently dedicated as conservation property to the North American Land Trust.
